Erick Cheruiyot is a faculty member in the Department of Crops, Horticulture and Soils, Faculty of Agriculture at Egerton University. His training is in Agronomy, with an interest in crop physiology. He has worked at Egerton University for close to 30 years, rising through the academic ranks to the current position of Associate Professor. He holds Diploma (Agriculture), BSc (Agriculture), MSc (Crop Production) and PhD (Agronomy). His duties include teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate students, supervising students on their research projects and thesis research, conducting own research, offering outreach and consultancy services. Has passion in research and promotion of climate smart crops for food security and improved livelihood of farming communities. Most of the climate smart crops are apparently underutilized. The crops under focus currently are sorghum, lentil, grasspea and fodder barley.
